Enrichment Programs

 

Writing Club̵= 1; Every Tuesday, from 1:35 to 2:35, we have a writing club designed by our= Literacy Coach, to strengthen our children’s writing skills. It bega= n January 30th. Sign-up forms are in the front office.=

Homework Club –  Chess Club –   Kids Music Club-    Our 2nd–5th graders are being taught how to pla= y piano keyboard. Don't forget to sign up, space will be limited.=

Our 5th grade boys participated in the = Beyond the Bell after school program, softball tournament on April 14, 2007= . It is a yearly tournament that involves over 100 schools. Our boys and th= eir Coach, Julio, had to sacrifice 3 of their Saturdays to prepare for this= annual tournament. In the end it was all worth it, for the boys enjoyed an= d celebrated their undefeated 7-0 record.&= nbsp;  Andasol would like to congratulate all the boys who put = in their time and effort, and to Coach Julio for taking his personal time t= o lead our boys to a much deserved victory.  They did a great job representing our school and faculty!!!!= !!!!!!!

= Scholastic Book Fair

Andasol is now having their annual Scholastic book fair. It is open f= or all parents and children during lunch time and after school every day fr= om 2:30 - 3:30. Andasol encourages our students to become masterful readers= , so parents please stop by with your children. Our book fair has books for= all ages. Not only is reading a necessary tool in life, this book fair can= be enjoyed with the whole family, and it is a major fundraiser. It will al= so be open at Open House on April 24, 2007 from 5:00 - 7:00.

= Gifted Symposium

District ONE is sponsoring its 4th Annual Gifted Symposium for teache= rs and parents, on Saturday, April 21, from 8:00am - 12:30 pm at Birmingham= High School.

 

The Symposium will include demonstration classrooms displaying instru= ction using different strategies with children. There will also be sessions= on strategies and techniques that teachers can use in their classrooms. Th= ese strategies are for all teachers and all parents not just gifted cluster= s.

 

The Symposium will highlight a keynote presentation by Dr. Baum, who = specializes in social and emotional needs of gifted students and exceptiona= l students. (identified gifted and learning disabled.)
