Beckford Library

If you think Libraries are just places with dusty old books, please think again.

The Beckford School Library is truly becoming a "Library Media Center."  We have gone from a library with ten to twenty old encyclopedias to a media center with two Pentium computers, CD Ram encyclopedias and fun educational software.

Thanks to the support of the PTA, parents and teachers, the Library is in computerized! Our book checkout and card catalogue are all on computer. We are also connected to the Internet, a great avenue for research.

Your child can take a book home from our school library. With your help and cooperation your child will learn to be responsible for taking good care of books and returning them when they are due .

Books will be checked out and returned during class visits and when the after school Library is open. A child must return their book in order to check out another book. Books can only be checked out when the Librarian is present.

The fine for a late book will be $0.05 (five cents) per day.  If a book is lost or damaged you will be charged $10.00 for paperback and $20.00 for hard cover books.  These charges are necessary so that we can replace and process the new books. Library privileges will be suspended until all fines are paid.

If you wish your child to enjoy the privilege of taking Beckford Avenue's Library books home, we need a form on file indicating that you have reviewed these rules with your child.  If you need a copy of this form, please contact Julie Greiner, the librarian.
