Dear Parents,

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and parents of Cowan Elementary School, I would like to extend to each of you a warm welcome to our school. Our mission statement is “The difference between a good school and a great school…is parents.” We believe that a collaborative, consultative approach where all members of the school community are valued and actively participating, is the best strategy for fulfilling our mission statement.

At Cowan Elementary, we believe in educating the whole child. We also believe that self esteem is the key to success in school. Thus, we have created a supportive environment that enhances the joy of learning. We are proud of our traditions of academic excellence and positive student behavior. Our curriculum is well-balanced and encourages the development of academic, social, cultural, physical and emotional qualities of our young students.

We want the time students spend at Cowan to be worthwhile, pleasant, and challenging. Consequently, we instill in our children, a love for learning. They are all thinking, engaged and valued members of our neighborhood school.

Our teachers foster an environment that encourages and enables success. We are fortunate to have a high degree of parent involvement, which has yielded positive results for our students and staff. The culture of our school is centered on “pride” which is mutually shared by parents, students, staff, and community members.
