TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

To fulfill the mission to support student achievement, the community of administrators, teachers, students, and the parents at Cowan Avenue Elementary School are committed to the effective use of information technology. It is therefore the goal of all concerned to integrate meaningful information technology into Cowan's curriculum and into its system of administration. Technology ignites opportunities for learning, engages today's students as active learners and participants in their own education, and prepares them for the demands of the 21 st century. Further, the mission includes fostering the use of multimedia or online information (digital content) which offers many advantages, including cost savings, increased efficiency, improved accessibility, and enhancing learning opportunities in a format that engages today's web-savvy students.

Specific goals and recommendations include:

Ensuring that teachers and students are adequately trained in the use of computer hardware and software, including online content.
· Encouraging ubiquitous access to computers and connectivity for each student.
· Considering the costs and benefits of online content, aligned with rigorous state academic standards, as part of a systemic approach to creating resources for students to customize learning to their individual needs."
