We are Child Welfare and Attendance professionals who support learning
and promote the well-being of all students. Our counselors and staff
collaborate with schools, communities, and families to empower students
and motivate them to stay in school. We develop plans and strategies
to maximize attendance and reduce school drop-out rates.
Through dedication and leadership we overcome barriers which impede
student attendance. We are advocates who guide students toward a successful
educational experience.

SARB is a State-mandated diversion process to assist students with attendance
and behavior problems. The SARB process consists of a continuum of services.
The process begins with the School Attendance Review Team (SART) or Student
Success Team (SST) at the school site, proceeds to the District-level Resource
Panel, and finally to the SARB. The SARB is composed of representatives
from law enforcement; the county departments of Probation, Children Family
Services (DCFS), Mental Health, and community agencies and parents. The
SARB recommends alternatives to legal action to the families who attend
the SARB hearing. If the SARB recommendation is not followed by the family,
the matter is referred to the District Attorney. The SARB Chairperson's
responsibilities include:
- Chairing the SARB Hearing
- Assisting school personnel and other PSA Counselors in selecting and
preparing cases for SARB
- Ensuring all district-wide and Local District remedial measures have
been attempted through discussion at the Resource Panel
- Training new PSA Counselors on District-wide / Local District resources
and specific case management techniques
- Selecting and training agency and community representatives for the
local SARB
- Acting as an expert witness in the mediation or prosecution of compulsory
school attendance law violations
- Ensuring the implementation of SARB recommendations
- Making 601B and PC272 referrals to the District Attorney
