School Profile
Hamlin Street School is located in Local District 1 of the Los Angeles Unified School District. We are nestled in a middle class residential neighborhood in the West San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles.
Our current K-5 student population is three hundred fifty. Our student population is diverse with seventeen different languages spoken. Eleven percent of our students are African-American, thirty-eight percent Hispanic, fourteen percent Asian, two percent Pacific Island and Alaskan, and thirty-six percent Caucasian.
The stakeholders at Hamlin Street are proud to be a High achieving School with an API score of 886. We have been Honored with the 2009 NCLB (No Child Left Behind) National Blue Ribbon School Award. We have growing parent involvement through our newly opened Parent Center. Hamlin also has an active PTA.
Hamlin has a computer lab on campus with thirty computers. Also, every classroom has at least one computer. All computers have high speed internet access. We have a server, which networks our computers. Hamlin has a state of the art Wonder of Reading Library and a part time library aide.
Hamlin provides three hundred twenty minutes of instruction per day. We schedule ten minimum days per school year, which each provide two hundred fifty minutes of instruction.
