PROGRAMS
FOR ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES
This office assists adult students with disabilities
who enrolled or are interested in enrolling in vocational training. The
purpose of this program is to individualize the support services necessary
to allow students with disabilities to perform on an equal basis with
non-disabled students on campus.
I. SERVICES AVAILABLE MAY INCLUDE:
Elevator
usage
Fee waivers
Agency referrals
Job placement assistance
Notetaking paper
Orthopedically supportive chairs
Oral interpreting
Registration, guidance and testing
Specialized adaptive equipment
Sign language interpreters
TDD access
Textbook loans
Resource Room for the Visually Impaired
II. QUALIFYING FOR THE PROGRAM:
To qualify for the program, students must provide
verification of the disability. Disabilities
may include but are not limited to, physical disabilities, hearing impairments
and vision loss. Also served are students with learning and emotional
disabilities, a history of substance abuse and other disabling health
conditions.
Students
who attended high school special education classes.
Persons
receiving state, county or social security income base on disability.
Persons
who have job related injuries and receive worker's compensation.
Disabled
veterans.
Clients
of Vocational Rehabilitation.
