Jefferson High School is pleased to announce that we have formed a partnership with Los Angeles Trade Tech to offer a computer networking class starting January 10, 2000 at Jefferson H.S. The class is offered now for A Track only. Some Trade Tech students will be in the class too. We will offer the class in one of our existing computer labs. The course will end May 17. This first semester course will be offered again in August, 2000.

The instructor is Mr. Walter Hamilton from L.A. Trade Tech, and the class covers the first semester of a four semester computer networking program. Students can continue the other semesters at L.A. Trade Tech or Cal State University. At the end of the fourth semester, students are eligible to take the Cisco CCNA exam (Certified Cisco Network Administrator) which is very valuable in the job market. They can also take the N+ networking certification exam at that point too.

Cisco has donated $14,000 worth of networking equipment to assist Jefferson H.S. in establishing a networking academy. And to provide real-world experience for students, the Work-Based Learning Initiative has been launched.
