Mentor Teachers (Draft)
We need your help and participation.
The Technology Committee needs to train 15 Technology Mentor Teachers,
one representative from each core department.
Ongoing Tasks of Technology Mentors:
Link Technology to Student Performance Standards
Arrange for Staff Training and sharing of effective practices
Build infrastructure and provide hardware.
Provide ongoing support
Evaluate all school technology proposals and funding. All funding needs to be approved through the Tech Committee.
Duties of Technology Mentors:
Stay informed of effective uses of technology. Attend workshops, conferences, seminars. Visit schools demonstrating effective uses of technology (King MS, Foshay Learning Center, Bell HS). Become a life-long learner.
Keep informed of issues and news via school e-mail.
Ability to draw up certifications, surveys, selection and evaluation procedures.
Stay abreast of Jefferson, district, and state technology goals and benchmarks.
Examples of Issues that need to be Addressed:
Evaluate proposals for various offices and departments.
Evaluate and standardize major purchases. For example, since many departments wish to buy word processing units, arrange for a vendor demonstrations from AlphaSmart and Dreamwriter. Evaluate both models and recommend one or both vendors. Many expensive items like presentation systems need to be evaluated in this way.
