My name is Menka Cikara and I have been teaching at Knollwood Elementary School for thirteen years. Because I've always been interested in different cultures and languages, I earned my Bilingual Teaching Credential at CSUN with an emphasis on Spanish language. I enjoy teaching children with a different cultural and language backgrounds. I come from a family of educators, so I have always had a deep appreciation for the value of education. More important, I know that collaboration and communication between parents and teachers can lead to pretty amazing results. Thanks to the education they got in Los Angeles schools, both my daughters were able to select and graduate from the colleges of their choice. I am looking forward to this year because I am teaching first grade again after six years of teaching kindergarten. I am always looking for new ways to enhance my students' educational development.
