Welcome To Our Website.
Miller Career and Transition Center, formerly Joaquin Miller High School, is the first career
and transition center for special education students in L.A.U.S.D. history. We provide
employment-based training for non-diploma track, mild to moderate disabled and selected
severely disabled students, aged 14-22 in Local Districts 1 & 2. We provide on-the-job as well
as on-site training , preparing students to transition into a variety of employment
opportunities. Prior to placement, students are assessed and screened for job readiness,
interests and abilities. All placements are monitored by our job coordinator and supported by
paraprofessionals familiar with the students. Participating employers provide the work-based
learning environments, and funding for student workers is generated by District and State
agencies.
