Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!

It is with great pride that we announce that Montara’s API increased 29 points,  from 747 to 776.  In local district 6, only two other schools improved their API by more points than we did.  Unfortunately, despite such improvement, we have still entered PI status.

We have experienced many changes at our school this year.  The biggest change is that we have added 6th grade to our school.  We have 4 classrooms with about 30 students each, and our 6th graders are doing an outstanding job both in and out of the classroom.

We also have new members on our faculty.  We would like to welcome Ms. Oceguera (K), Ms. Herrera (1st grade Dual), Mrs. De La Cal Fasani (2nd grade Dual), and Ms. Gedney (4th grade Magnet).

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents who have supported the decisions made by the School Site Council (SSC).  SSC voted on a uniform policy and to not allow the following:  mohawks,  faux hawks, piercings other than ears for girls, and dyed hair.

Parents, please encourage your child/children to follow our guidelines.  Those parents who opt out of uniform need to follow the non-uniform policy - no baggy clothes, no skeletons, skulls, inappropriate sayings, no sandals, etc.

We also have a new reading series called Treasures/Tesoros.  All of our teachers attended training over the summer.  I am positive that your children are very excited about their new reading series.  Our teachers and students will be exploring this new program together.

Thank you for your support and let’s have a great year of learning and growth.

Bienvenidos a Ms. Oceguera (K), Ms. Herrera (1st Dual), Mrs. De La Cal Fasani (2nd Dual), and Ms. Gedney (4th Magnet).
