
The reorganization of the LAUSD Division of Adult and Career Education has resulted in the formation of the Venice Service Area which is comprised of four main sites: Venice Skills Center, Emerson Adult Learning Center, Venice CAS, and Hollywood CAS. In addition to the four main sites, there are over 45 branch locations serving an area of more than 300 square miles! The Venice Skills Center serves as the Venice Service Area's operational headquarters.

Venice Skills Center offers year-round CTE (Career Technical Education) classes as well as academic instruction at our main site as well as at our Lincoln branch.
Most classes are Open Enrollment which means you don't have to wait for the beginning of a semester to start the class. Course offerings include computer repair, graphic design, business English and math, computer applications, optical dispensing, web design, Cisco networking and dental assistant. Venice Skills Center classes are designed for participants who seek to acquire a vocational skill, upgrade their current skills or master minimum competencies which will increase their marketability. We welcome adult students who can benefit from the programs offered as well as minors (students 16-18 years of age) who have been accepted into the Alternative Education and Work Center.
Venice Skills Center opened in 1968 as a vocational training program to serve adults and youth in Venice. The Center moved to its present site at 611 5th Avenue in May of 1968. Although always under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Unified School District, Venice Skills Center was funded by the Manpower Development Training Act (MDTA) from 1968 through 1974 and partially subsidized by the Comprehensive Employment Training Act (CETA) from 1975 - 1982.
1987 brought full accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
