Venice Skills Center opened in 1968 as a vocational training program to serve adults and youth in Venice. The Center moved to its present site at 611 5th Avenue in May of 1968. Although always under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Unified School District, Venice Skills Center was funded by the Manpower Development Training Act (MDTA) from 1968 through 1974 and partially subsidized by the Comprehensive Employment Training Act (CETA) from 1975 - 1982.
1987 brought full accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
