Alternative Education & Work Center (AEWC)

This is a high school completion program for students 16 to 18 years of age. We serve students who are looking for a different way to make up credits, improve basic skills, prepare for the GED through coursework, or complete requirements for their high school diploma. Students who are a year or more behind in credits may want to earn their diploma through the GED Plus program. The Center offers transcript assessment, help with goal setting, flexible scheduling through independent study, individualized instruction, and beautiful graduation ceremonies in June and December.

Students who have been out of school for 45 days or more may seek enrollment at any time during the year. Others may enroll with a referral from their current or most recent high school. Students must meet with the program coordinator prior to enrollment.

Each student's basic skills and transcripts are assessed, and an individual program of studies is planned. Students in good standing may choose to work part-time or take vocational classes on campus. All books and materials are available in the classroom. Students work at their own pace, but are expected to complete about one course contract each month, working toward their goal of high school graduation or return to their home school.
