Trivia Challenge - Question 21

Q:

Dick and Tom Smothers — better known to most people as the Smothers Brothers comedy team — attended Verdugo Hills High School in the early 50's. According to former classmates, both were very nice, very capable students who also sang in the choir, among other things. Through their achievements in the entertainment world, the brothers have left an indelible legacy for others, especially at Verdugo and in the community. However, Dick Smothers, in particular, left a unique mark on the community. What was it?

A:

In 1953, Dick Smothers scrawled his name into wet concrete on the northeast corner of Foothill Boulevard and McClemont Street at the base of a telephone pole. It's still there many years later. Clearly, Tujunga got the advantage over Graumman's Chinese Theater and Hollywood Boulevard's Walk-of-Fame on this one!
