Teacher Process
This project must be planned in advanced. It involves research, conducting interviews, using technology, writing and oral presentations. Students need two to three weeks to finish project. It is recommended that students visit a site that celebrates this tradition in order for them to experience it first hand.
Another alternative is to bring authentic materials to the classroom. There are many websites / links from Mexico and universities in the United States which offer many interesting and instructive literature / materials that are teacher & student friendly.
In addition, there are several teacher stores throughout the USA that carry videos, books and realia for the classroom. Most stores have websites, the items can be bought through the internet and their prices are reasonable.
I would also recommend to do a simple project for lower grades. Instead of the essay writing, have them do a PowerPoint Presentation or a Poster / Display Board with pictures, etc.
