Welcome back to the Blue 4 and Red 4 Cohorts! Due to the District's moratorium on all meetings in September, our first meeting of the school year will be on Monday, October 5th at Cochran Middle School, from 4:45 pm to 8:15 pm. Please make every effort to attend this mandatory meeting.

CPR Classes are offered through the District at no charge -

visit the Learning Zone to see listings

  • All PTs must have current CPR: Infant, Child and Adult certification at the time they apply for their Clear Credential
  • If the Learning Zone is not offering a class convenient for you, you may take a class at your own cost from any reputable source.
  • Check with The American Heart Association and The Red Cross.

DON'T GET CONFUSED between the

DISTRICT INTERN BTSA INDUCTION and LAUSD BTSA programs!

  • If you earned your preliminary credential as a DISTRICT INTERN, you are in our 18 month program.
  • LAUSD BTSA provides a two-year program for those who earned their preliminary credential from a university or out-of-state.
  • Often people throughout the District do not know there is a difference.

Each year we talk to disappointed PTs who have attended BTSA activities for the wrong program or taken misadvice about program requirements because they did not distinguish themselves as a DISTRICT INTERN BTSA INDUCTION participant.

The moral of the story is know your program!

CLAD Authorization and District Interns in SB 2042 Credential Program:

Several questions have been asked regarding the CLAD authorization embedded in the current SB 2042 Credentialing Program. Participating Teachers enrolled in our current program have received CLAD authorization in the Preliminary Credential. They will not need to take the CLAD examinations. The following is a quotation taken from CCTC Coded Correspondence 02-006, dated April 24, 2002:

“Coded Correspondence 02-0006, dated April 24, 2002, included the results of a detailed analysis of the CLAD knowledge and skill areas in relation to the new English learner requirement for multiple and single subject teacher preparation programs under AB 1059 and SB 2042. This analysis showed that the English learner authorization under the new standards is sufficiently comparable to the CLAD authorization to allow teachers to teach English learners in regular classrooms and in designated settings. Therefore, the new English learner authorization in AB 1059 and SB 2042 is the same as the CLAD authorization.”
