Procedure for Gaining Approval for Professional Development (PD) Hours

  • Workshops provided by the DI Induction program and those that are listed above will support specific aspects of Induction Standards 5 & 6.  PTs do not need pre-approval to attend these workshops, as long as they select PD that supports their current Inquiry Focus.
  • PD that is offered outside of the DI Induction Program may be taken to meet program requirements.  The PD must support the current IIP Inquiry focus.  PTs may seek advance approval to credit PD that is not offered by DI Induction.
  • It is not an opportunity to seek retroactive credit for random professional development.
  • Approval must be secured in advance to be credited towards the focus of the current Inquiry on which you are working.

Step 1:  Email Felissa Luque as far in advance as possible:

         Felissa Luque fal6716@lausd.net

Step 2:  Include in your email the following information:

            The title of the PD

            Date(s)/Time(s)

            Offered by

            Total hours

Brief content description: (Do not send links or lengthy information.  You may cut and paste)

Current Inquiry Focus (CSTP and Induction Standard):

Explanation of why the PD will support growth in your focus area:

Step 3:  Within one week, you should receive an email response.  If your request is

approved, print a copy of the approval to be submitted later with verification of

              completion (proof).

Step 4:  Secure verification of completion.  Most PDs will provide you with proof of

completion.  If this is not the case you may secure an alternative verification of

completion. This must be a document that has an original signature

and title of the person who managed the training, the title of the training with the

                date(s) and hour(s).

Step 5:  Choose one of the methods below to send in the following two documents:

  • A copy of  the email from Step 3 indicating approval of your request
  • Verification of  completion for final credit
  • Fax to 323-932-2040 (attention Felissa Luque)
  • Email with an attachment to fal6716@lausd.net
  • Send through school mail to: DI  BTSA Induction, Harbor Building,  Suite 303, Location #0304 (attention: Felissa Luque)

Requests that lack timeliness and/or forethought will not be honored.

Verification:

When Induction Staff will be present at the PD, PTs will bring their card and have it signed at the event.      When card cannot be signed the procedure is:

  1. PT secures proof of completion
  2. Fax proof to Atten: Felissa Luque   at (323) 932-2040
  3. Within a week or two, Felissa will send out an e-mail confirmation that the PT should print and staple to their program card as proof.  Staff will not sign card.
