The Educational Equity Compliance Office of the General Counsel, was established to monitor the District's compliance with state and federal civil rights laws. We do this by conducting training and compliance reviews and by providing technical assistance and guidance throughout the District for staff, community and students. We also respond to discrimination complaints filed against the District with the U.S. and California Departments of Education and to special education compliance complaints filed with the California Department of Education. The office is also responsible to respond to complainants who wish to appeal Local District decision regarding internally filed discrimination complaints.
