Welcome Back DOTS Teachers

On behalf of the District Office of Transition Services (DOTS), I want to welcome you back to the 2004-2005 school year. I hope you had an enjoyable summer and are looking forward to a successful year under the new reorganization of our District.

The annual professional development buy-back days have been approved by the State, and single track schools are scheduled for Wednesday, September 1st, Thursday, September 2nd, and Friday, September 3rd, 2004 . DOTS teachers interested in participating in these buy-back days will attend the professional development opportunities provided at their primary assignment. We have attached a “Buy-back Day Attendance Verification Form” to be signed by the site administrator for each day that you attend a buy-back day. These forms should be submitted on the following Monday, September 6, 2004 . Buy-back days are optional but we encourage you to attend these important meetings.

Teachers currently assigned to “S” basis calendars (year round schools) have made changes to their calendars to accommodate buy-back day attendance.

Finally, please calendar the DOTS staff professional development day scheduled for September 14, 2004 at Junior Achievement ( 6250 Forest Lawn Drive , Los Angeles , CA 90068 ). The meeting is scheduled to begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. Following the meeting, report to your primary site for the remainder of your workday. A flyer with additional details including driving directions is also attached.
