Vision Statement
Winnetka Avenue Elementary School is a safe place where we promote respect for all individuals. Students, parents, teachers, other staff and community work together for the common goal of providing everyone the opportunity to successfully acquire the knowledge and skills that will prepare students for middle school, high school, and beyond.Principal's Welcome
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our Winnetka families, both new and returning. The 2008 – 2009 school year is going to be yet another exciting opportunity for our students to reach their academic goals and pursue their dreams.Winnetka is an excellent school, and I am very proud and honored to be the Principal. We have intelligent students, highly qualified and dedicated teachers, and an involved community. Winnetka is a great place to be! We boast a diverse student population with a total of 10 different first languages spoken in the home.
Here are a few tips to ensure your child’s success in school:
- Send your child to school daily, on time and prepared to learn.
- Talk to your child about the importance you place on a high quality education and a job well done.
- Communicate frequently with your child’s teacher.
- Practice basic skills with your child and review homework.
- Set aside a quiet place and regular time for your child to study at home.
- Support school sponsored events.
- Encourage your child to read nightly and talk with your child about what was read.
