Leadership update: Thanks was given to leadership's role
in getting those title one meal applications. In addition
to putting together the homecoming activities, they took
time to smoke the straggling applicants out of their holes
and get them to turn in their applications so we could
reach our goal of 67% and get title one funds. Also, If
you bought an ad in the Homecoming program and have not
paid yet, please do so.
Technology advances: The sound system for the field and
gym should be operative soon. Leadership has been wading
through bureaucratic red tape and trying to get the marquee
up by early spring. The electrical outlets should be operative
in the classrooms. Telephones will be installed soon that
will have room to room calling capabilities so you can
make crank phone calls to other teachers and and ask them
if their refrigerator is running, or if they have Prince
Albert in a can. Also, cable is on the way for each room.
Intercom-. Since it is so important to have an intercom
for safety reasons, department meetings will be held to
get your input on how we want to use it. At the moment
it only has one way capability, but two way capability
will be added.
Class interruptions: The issue of class interruptions
was raised. It is relentless,.up to twelve times per period.
A suggestion was offered that, whenever possible, students
be spoken to during nutrition or lunch. Clubs have meetings
during these times, so why couldn't students be seen then?
Or, at least put the notices in the teachers' boxes the
day before so there isn't a double interruption.
Trash talk: A new custodian has been hired. Hopefully
this will alleviate the mess around the basketball courts
and rooms will be more consistently swept.
Athletic pullouts: All athletics related student class
pullouts must be cleared through Mr. Ornelas or Ms. Knapp.
The Play's the Thing! Great:job to Ms. Britton and drama
for an excellent play. If we could only get those idiots
to turn off their cell phones!
Attending: Mr. Ornelas, Ms. Burr, Ms. Hoelscher, Mr.
Fahy, Mr. Lopez, Mr Stirpe, Ms.
Delaney, Mr. Nelson, Ms. Manuel, Mr. Gonzales, Mr. Vanover,
Ms. Juarez, and filling in for
Mr. Noyes, Ms. Karahalios.
