IMaST Grants

Enhancing Education through Technology Grant (EETT)

IMaST 3

This year, 6th, 7th and 8th grade science and 6th and 7th grade mathematics classrooms at three middle schools join twenty-six other Los Angeles Unified School District middle schools in participating in an exciting learning experience that includes using wireless laptop computers, electronic presentation boards and tools, and Internet-based resources to promote student achievement and increase use of classroom technology.

These technologies have been placed as part of the LAUSD Integrating Mathematics and Science through Technology (IMaST) project - a program supported by a No Child Left Behind (NCLB) grant. The purpose of the program is to study the impact that classroom use of technology will have on student achievement and technology integration.

Mathematics and science classrooms at these three middle schools across LAUSD were selected for the program. Each of the three schools has been assigned a lead coach to work with the on-site coaches, administration, and teachers at each school.

To help students succeed in their schoolwork, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will have access to many exciting computer and Internet-based resources to reinforce learning in the classroom and at home. In addition, every teacher and student at these schools will be given an E-mail account for communication with each other and with experts in the field.

With the introduction of this equipment into their classrooms, teachers will be exploring and implementing new ways to make school more exciting and meaningful for the students. We hope you will join us in our enthusiasm for this project and support our efforts to increase your child's success in school.

The purpose of the program is to show the impact that increased classroom use of technology will have on student and staff proficiency with electronic learning tools and to increase student achievement in algebra.

These classroom technologies have been placed as part of the LAUSD Integrating Mathematics and Science through Technology (IMaST) project - a program supported by a No Child Left Behind (NCLB) grant. IMaST 4

This year, 6th, 7th and 8th grade science and mathematics classrooms at two middle schools join twenty-nine other Los Angeles Unified School District middle schools in participating in an exciting learning experience. These schools will use a hands-on, minds-on active-learning approach using technology that includes wireless laptop computers, electronic presentation boards and tools, and Internet-based resources in their mathematics and science classrooms.

These technologies have been placed as part of the LAUSD Integrating Mathematics and Science through Technology (IMaST) project - a program funded by an Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETTC), No Child Left Behind (NCLB) grant. The purpose of the program is to assist target teachers/classrooms in the use of technology to enhance teaching and promote learning. Goals include increased classroom technology integration to support student achievement and development of technology literacy skills.

With the introduction of this equipment into their classrooms, teachers will be exploring and implementing new ways to support the Districts’ core mission to provide high quality instruction to improve student achievement so that students graduate from high school, college-prepared, career-ready and globally competitive in the 21st century.

As students learn and practice technology and content skills, they also learn and practice related problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills. We hope you will join us in our enthusiasm for this project and support our efforts to increase your child's success in school.
