The Mars Rover Project is an educational project for upper elementary through high school students. The purpose of the project is to provide a fun and engaging math and science activity for students that will prepare them to act like scientists and engineers and and gain knowledge about the Mars launch in 2003 and landing on Mars in 2004. In this project the GATE/SAS students will be using the tools of the 21st century as they develop their technology skills in an authentic technology project. Initial training was done January 6 thru 9, 2003. The students of the participating GATE/SAS teachers will be constructing Mars scapes and robotic rovers in their classrooms.
