Our Healthy Start Program offers these services:

Eye and Hearing Exams
Immunizations
Provide information about low cost or free health insurance.

Library

Our Gage library was renamed "Vance L. Layton Library" in memory of one of our teachers, Mr. Layton, who passed away in 1997.

Our school library is open to all students! To check out books, all you need is your school ID! Please see Mr. O. Gonzalez, our librarian, for more details.

Mr. O. Gonzalez
Mr. O. Gonzalez is our Library Media Teacher. Mr. Gonzalez came to Gage in 2001. What he likes most about Gage is the people - students and staff. Mr. Gonzalez went to Cal State L.A. and Cal State Long Beach. His hobbies and interests include hiking, camping, and riding his motorcycle...fast!, and most of all spending time with his daughters. Mr. Gonzalez is looking forward to traveling in the near future; he would like to go to France, Italy, and Hawaii.

Psychiatric Social Worker

Ms. L. VELEZ-GARCIA, our Psychiatric Social Worker, is here to help Gage students deal with the social or emotional challenges that prevent them from realizing their true academic potential. Since joining the District's School Mental Health unit in 1997, she has worked with elementary, middle and high school students attending schools in Bell, Huntington Park and South Gate. After graduating from LAUSD schools, she earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work from the University of Southern California. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Ms. VELEZ-GARCIA says she feels privileged to work with students, parents and staff of Gage Middle School. You may contact her at: lxv8485@lausd.net
