Gage Middle School Technology Center

Mr. David Billett - I have been teaching at Gage since 1995. My interests include language, travel and education. I love being the Technology Resource Teacher here at Gage because so many of our students and teachers innovate with technology and are so creative with it. Gage Middle School is a great place to work because of all the dedicated staff and students.

to enhance and improve student achievement."

 GageNet

GageNet is our local network. All computers in the Technology Center and supported computers on campus have GageNet access. Users must log to GageNet with their own account. All students have a default account; their user name is the way it appears in SIS. Students can log in initially with the word 'user' as a password and will be required to input and verify a new password and a password hint.

GageNet User's Guide
User's Guides are available from the Technology Center in room 253. The GageNet User's Guide contains all student's user names enrolled after the cutoff point noted on the front page of the guide.

Shared Areas
In your home directory, you will see the 'Public' and 'Sites' folders. You can place documents in these folders that all your students can open, download and save to their folders. Teacher's Public folders contains a growing amount of resources submitted by Gage teachers.

Drop Box
The Drop Box is 'write only' area where users can drop off assignments and electronic resources for teachers and each other.

Planning
Teachers requesting lab time should fill out a Technology Center Planning Sheet. Please stop by at your convenience to discuss any projects or activities you would like to work on and receive support in planning and instruction. You may also call to schedule time or e-mail me.

Scheduling
The Technology Center has open scheduling. Teachers may sign up their classes whenever there is space available. Scheduling is extremely flexible! Normally, projects are scheduled for 2-5 day blocks where possible, but any time scheme can be accommodated. Come to Room 253 or speak with any of the Technology Center staff to schedule hours for any of the labs.

Availability
Room 253 is frequently open during nutrition and lunch in addition to after school. Any Gage teacher is welcome to supervise the labs during "off" time. You will find students who are eager to work on reports and projects and who will appreciate the opportunity you give them to work in the lab. Rooms 251 and 253 are available to you and your students if you would like to supervise.

Assessment
The Technology Center has standards-based assessment rubrics available for your projects.

After completing a Technology Center Planning Sheet:
•teachers will be able to stop by to schedule time for classes to attend according to the needs of their activities and the Technology Center calender;
•we will determine who will guide the "technology" section of the lesson, the classroom teacher will be responsible for assisting the students and guiding the curriculum portion of the lesson while in the Technology Center;
•teachers can plan to send individuals or small groups, depending on availability of lab space and after submitting a Technology Center Planning Sheet.

Scheduling will be based on need and availability.

Teachers are welcome and encouraged to use the Technology Center any time it is open.
